PublicData.com is Migrating to User Names

PublicData.com began operations nearly 30 years ago and was an early player in the functional use of the internet. As such, PublicData.com helped set many standards on how to make the internet more valuable than just the 'brochure net' that was popular at the time. However, since that time standards for userids/usernames have moved away from the use of personal information such as pre-existing account numbers, driver's licenses, social security numbers, etc. Instead, for privacy and ease of use, usernames are more and more often being defined by the customer and PublicData.com has decided to adopt this standard.

Effective March 08, 2016 PublicData.com will convert to using only a username and password for login. Unless contacted by PublicData.com directly, the Driver's License number or account name you currently use for logging in, along with your password, will be all you need to log in. In addition, once logged on, you may use the 'My Account' screen (under the 'Account Services' pull down) to set your username to one of your choosing.

PublicData.com now accepts Discover

The Discover card is being added to our existing lineup of MasterCard, Visa and American Express credit cards currently accepted by PublicData.com. Thank you for choosing PublicData.com.

Announcing Our New Look

Welcome to PublicData.com's new look. We have updated our site in order to not only improve our overall appearance but to also be more efficient and user friendly. We hope you like it as much as we do. Thanks again for choosing PublicData.com.

New Plans and Pricing

Publicdata.com is committed to providing the best possible service at the most affordable pricing in the industry. While we have been able to avoid price increases since the company's inception (almost 20 years), the continuing increase in the cost of doing business has now made this unavoidable. Many of our older priced plans are no longer available on PublicData.com and Effective January 1, 2015 some existing plans will be migrated to new pricing (our current plans).

As we continue our commitment to provide the best possible value to our subscribers, your cost per look up will remain the same or improve. Many plans will not see a change in their pricing. Most plans affected will increase by less than $5 and in a few cases up to $10.

We appreciate each and every one of our subscribers and thank you all for using PublicData.com.

Introducing Advanced Search

It's finally here!! Have you ever had trouble finding a certain individual or business name on PublicData.com because you didn't know the exact format used? Have you ever needed to search on multiple criteria, like NAME and ADDRESS? Advanced Search was created to provide these capabilities (and much more). Enter as much information as you know, and records that match the most information will be at the top of the search results list. Advanced Search allows PublicData.com capabilities similar to popular search engines (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc).

It will take us some time to convert the thousands of databases available on PublicData.com to the new format, but we have started with Texas Property, Texas Department of Motor Vehicles1, Texas Driver's License1, Sex Offenders, Wanted and Warrants, and Crime Stoppers data. We will be adding Advanced Search to more databases as rapidly as possible.

Click Here to see more detail.

1Remember that these databases are protected by DPPA.

PublicData.com will soon be switching to Paperless billing for all our customers who have been receiving paper invoices (an option available to corporate customers only).

For those corporate accounts that still need a postal delivery of the billing statement, PublicData.com will now charge a $5.00 fee for each statement.

To choose the Postal Paper Billing option, simply log on and go to the 'My Account' link in the tool bar and update the Billing Method option (this is only available to corporate accounts and will be under the 'Credit Card' section on that screen).

PLEASE NOTE: Credit card accounts, if your credit card fails multiple times (we notify you by email of each failure), we will use postal delivery to send you a billing statement and charge your account a fee of $5.00.

For more information, please see our info on Billing Options or our latest Terms and Conditions

Paperless Billing Now Available

For those corporate accounts that still need a billing statement, PublicData.com now offers paperless billing. This option is only available to our corporate accounts (those accounts where the stateID is CORP). Customers who choose this option will still be required to pay by check. When your account is renewed, PublicData.com will automatically create a Billing Statement, attach it to your account, and send you an email containing a link to the statement. You will be able to access your statement through this email for up to 30 days or at any time by logging onto your account and clicking on the Account History link.

Paperless billing allows you to receive you billing statement up to two weeks earlier than waiting for a paper bill. It also makes it easier to share with your accounting department and others. In short, paperless billing saves resources, money and time.

To choose Paperless Billing, simply log on and go to 'My Account' and update the Billing Method option (corporate accounts will see this option under 'Credit Card' section of this screen).

Give Our New Interface a Try

PublicData.com is always looking for ways to improve and simplify our services. We are currently evaluating a new interface that provides some usability enhancements on top of an interface that should be familiar to PublicData users. Simply select to 'Try Beta' off of the home page and be sure to let us know what you think.

Effective January 1: Good News From PublicData.com

As of Jan 1, 2009, PublicData.com is adjusting how Look-ups are calculated. Look-ups will be charged as the sum of your search and detail Look-Ups (instead of the greater of the two). This will allow for greater flexibility to use Look-ups however you want and simplifies our plans.

To ensure that everyone can only benefit from this change, PublicData.com is doubling available lookups for EVERY plan. As part of the change to the new system, on Jan 1, 2009 PublicData.com will double your searches available and searches used.

PUBLICDATA.COM JUST BECAME AN EVEN BETTER DEAL.

PublicData.com Announces a $100.00 Bounty

It has been recently pointed out that PublicData.com was displaying Social Security Numbers (SSN). The fact of the matter is that we had no idea that this State used SSNs as Drivers License Numbers. It has been the policy of PublicData.com to not display SSNs, with the exception of those in the Social Security Death Master File.

Because we are commited to not displaying the SSNs and realize that sometimes we don't recognize numbers as SSNs, PublicData.com will pay $100.00 to the first Customer who points out that a SSN is being displayed from one of our databases. The Social Security Death Master File is the only exception to this offer.

States Are Working to Elliminate Access to Public Records

States are becoming more aggressive in their resistance to comply with Sunshine Laws or their Open Records Laws. They are using the cover of more recently passed laws, such as the DPPA, to justify their actions and deny access to the Public Record. Currently, all DPPA restricted databases will require users to select an exemption prior to each search. We feel the need to keep you informed, as a PublicData.com Customer, to the status of this situation since access to certain databases may change or may be more limited in the future.

PublicData.com remains committed to the idea that open government is good government.

New Interface

PublicData.com has recently shipped over a thousand new database as well as continuing to refresh our existing databases. With all the new data, we found it necessary to enhance our interface to improve access to the data. At the same time, we have provided the ability to search combination's of databases that were never before available.

For a short period of time the classic interface will be made available, however it will not be upgraded to support the new function or provide access to the new databases.

PublicData.com Implemented a "Terms and Conditions" System In 2001

PublicData.com has implemented a Terms and Conditions (T&C) system to better support our customers. Many agencies providing public data place limits or requirements on who may access the data. An example of this is that most of the "Department of Motor Vehicles" databases are restricted to those terms covered by the "Driver Privacy Protection Act" (DPPA). Very little will change in how you use PublicData.com, but you will see some differences. To see how this will change the way you use PublicData.com, you can click here to read more about it.

PublicData.com Makes It Easier To Earn FREE Searches

PublicData.com is now giving away more FREE searches than ever before. In the past, PublicData.com gave free "look-ups" or searches to members who provide a credit card for billing. We now give 100 FREE SEARCHES to members every time their credit card is billed by PublicData.com and the charge is approved. Those who have usage plans which bill monthly have only been able to receive the credit card bonus when you sign up for the plan. Now they will receive 100 bonus searches each month when their credit card is approved.

This means you can earn up to 1200 bonus searches per year — automatically — for simply letting PublicData.com bill your credit card. If you don't currently have a credit card number on file, please let us start billing your card and start earning bonus searches for your account today.

If you have an annually billed plan, you will continue to earn 100 bonus searches when you initially start and renew your account with a credit card approval. All other bonus earning methods remain unchanged.

Account Billing Status

Those accounts which are more than 60 days delinquent on payment will be closed. You will always be able to reactivate your account with a valid credit card. You will not be able to reactivate your account using our invoice system until your account balance is paid in full.
