PublicData.com is implementing a new Terms and Conditions (T&C) system. Many agencies providing public data place limits or requirements on who may access the data. An example of this is that most of the "Department Of Motor Vehicles" databases are restricted to those terms covered by the "Driver Privacy Protection Act" (DPPA). To be legally able to access these databases you must meet the criteria of the DPPA and agree to its terms.
All searchable databases are controlled by a basic "T&C" agreement. Our basic agreement covers those searchable databases which have no additional specific restrictions above those outlined in the basic T&C agreement. The majority of our databases are covered by this agreement.
However, an additional "T&C" agreement will be required for those databases that require specific restricted access to them per the data provider agency orper government regulations.
Prior to allowing initial access to a restricted database, PublicData.com will present you with the current T&Cs required for that database. You may accept or decline these T&Cs based on your ability to meet the requirements. You must provide your password at this time, thus making this a legal signature (another reason to protect your password as it identifies you).
PublicData.com will automatically highlight all databases whose T&Cs require some action on your part. Just click on any database name that is an Italicized Red link and you will be presented with a list of actionable T&C agreements. The T&Cs associated with the database you clicked on will be at the top of the list. From here, you can also Accept or Decline these T&Cs and optionally process other T&Cs that may apply to you.
PublicData.com will also identify all databases whose T&Cs you have "declined" (identified by you
that you did not meet the requirements). You can see and link to the T&Cs you declined by clicking
on a database that is a strikeout link.
If you make a mistake or a particular T&C no longer applies to you, you can change your selections at any time via the Terms and Conditions link under Member Services.
You may control whether databases for which you do not have access (e.g. you declined the T&Cs) are displayed with the list of other databases by a new checkbox presented on the "Welcome" page.
